A Miracle of Multiplication

Jesus and His disciples were somewhere around the Sea of Galilee when thousands of people arrived to hear Him preach.

It was late in the day, and the people were getting hungry, so Jesus asked His disciples to find food to feed everyone—all

5,000 people.

Unsure what to do next, one of the disciples found a young boy and his packed lunch: five loaves of bread and two fish.

The boy offered Jesus all that he had.

Jesus took that small lunch, gave thanks to God and had it distributed to the crowd. Miraculously, every single person ate until they were full—even leaving plenty of food to spare!

When we offer Jesus what we have, He can multiply our gifts to bless others.

Although Jesus met the physical needs of the people around Him, He ultimately wanted to meet their spiritual need for a Savior. “I am the bread of life,” Jesus said later. “He who comes to me will not hunger and he who believes in me will never thirst” (John 6:35).

On Global Hunger Sunday, Southern Baptists can meet physical and spiritual needs around the world by feeding the hungry. Give your gifts and join us in witnessing a miracle of multiplication on October 10, 2021.

Global Hunger Relief is a Southern Baptist initiative to meet hunger needs through gospel-centered solutions.1
